About
I am a software engineer with a strong foundation in building scalable, secure web applications. In early 2024, I transitioned into an IT Architect role at BEYONDER (formerly Ambient Innovation), where I bridge high-level system design with hands-on development.
My academic background includes a B.Sc. in Computer Science and an M.Eng. in Information Systems Engineering. My Master's thesis focused on security standards, an area I remain deeply passionate about and integrate into my daily architectural decisions.
Selected Work
BEYONDER Projects
Leading architectural efforts on mission-critical platforms:
- Empto A complex platform for optimizing industrial waste disposal processes.
- BlueOak (DRWN) Cloud-based self-service platform for media budget optimization and automation.
Open Source
Active contributor to the developer community, focusing on security and developer tooling.
Freelance & Legacy
Online Radio Infrastructure
Since 2008, I have partnered with small and medium-sized broadcasters to build robust streaming foundations. My work focused on infrastructure setup, automation through SAM Broadcaster, and developing high-performance station websites tailored for the unique needs of live audio.
sam-song.info (2010s — 2023)
A specialized web service enabling hundreds of online radio stations to bridge their broadcast automation with social media.
Built in PHP, the platform managed complex integrations with the legacy Twitter and Facebook APIs. The service was a staple in the independent radio community for over a decade until it was retired in 2023 due to prohibitive changes in the social media API landscape.
Beyond the Code
Cycling
Whether it's a fast road ride or exploring new trails, cycling is my way to reset. The geometry of a bike is as fascinating to me as the architecture of a software system.
Photography
Capturing moments through the lens. I often handle team photography at BEYONDER, applying the same attention to detail I use in code to visual storytelling.
Contact
I'm always happy to connect with other developers, whether it's about software architecture, security, or cycling. The best way to meet me in person is at a DjangoCologne Meetup—come say hi!
